MEDITERRANEAN DIET

The Mediterranean diet is a type of diet. This diet is a valuable cultural legacy for the countries next to Mediterranean sea.  It is very simple, complete and is a very good combination of food.
In 2010 this diet was proclamed Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

To begin, different products arrived from different places, for example: From the "Middle east" we recived cereals, legums, fruits and vegetables, like carrotrs, apple or onions, and chickpea.  From Europe, arrived asparagus and cabbage. From Asia and Oceania arrived rise, pepper and sugar, and finaly, from America arrived potato and tomato.

All these contributions are already part of the Mediterranean diet.


This diet is characterized by dry land, where olive trees, vineyards and cereals fit perfectly.





Mediterranean diet is based on the consumption of vegetables, fruits, fish, olive oil and often includes wine. 
The most important  blessings on health: 

  • If you have a good diet,  the possibilities of having cardiovasculars illnesses will be reduced, like cancer or the other disease.
  • Olive oil reduce the level of cholesterol.
  • And finaly, if you consume wine moderately, it has beneficial effects.


The effects of the Mediterranean diet

In the 1950s and 60s it was observed that in Mediterranean countries there were less diseases than in the northern of Europe, and it was attributed to the diet of the area and their lifestyle.

In addition, the Mediterranean diet has a high social component and invites you to share the food, and their  creations are a great testimony for cultural preservation. Finaly, their  ingredients are the most appropriate for the climate and terrain of the area and promote the conservation of the landscape and traditional agriculture.

The inhabitants of Balearic Islands can know the blessing of the importance of the bread to the health.

The Balearic pharmacists cooperated with the “Campanya Pan Cada Día” and they distributed 42000 flyers in 400 pharmacys. These flyers contained some information about the importance of bread.
The objective of this campaign is to make the population aware  about the consumption of bread.
In the last years, people have believed that the bread produced overweight and obesity, and many people have reduced it in their diets.


Ten reasons why bread should be part of our diet: 

  1. Bread is the base of the Mediterranean diet.
  2. Bread, with the other cereal, is the base of the food pyramid.
  3. Bread provides carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, vitamins and fiber.
  4. Experts recommend consuming between 220 and 250 grams of bread a day distributed in different meals.
  5. It is recommended that children and adolescents consume bread, especially at breakfasts, because is good for academic efficiency.
  6. Bread is a food without fat.
  7. Have a great “satiate” effect thanks to its high fiber content.
  8. Bread is an economic and easy to digest.
  9. The sandwich is a perfect alternative because  it offers  the nutritional benefits of “ embotit”.
  10.  In the market there are a variety of textures and flavors of bread.

MASTER CHEFF JUNIOR

MASTER CHEFF JUNIOR

Master Chef is a Spanish television program, and it is based on a program of ​​American television cooking with the same title.
This Christmas, 16 children between 8 and 12 years old competed to see who was the best chef. They had participated in different tests related to cooking, and a jury evaluated them. One of these guys is from Barcelona, he lives the kitchen with special passion and he wants to become a great chef in the future. He started cooking with four years and, despite his age, he writes a cooking blog, but he didn’t win.

MarioThe winner was Mario, a young boy from La Rioja. He is a 12 years old boy and produces some excellent dishes.  The award was a credit of 12,000 € to continue with his education, but every child left with a gift and an unforgettable experience.

This program hopes to inspire children to learn about healthy food or cooking skills and also promotes values ​​such as respect and teamwork.

EASY CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES

EASY CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES

Ingredients:
200g of flour
300g of dark chocolate, broken into pieces
200g of sugar
2 eggs
150 ml of  sunflower oil and some extra for greasing
one spoonful of vanilla essence
6 spoonfuls of cocoa

Method:
-First, heat up the oven to 180C.

-Crush the chocolate into small pieces.

-Add all the ingredients in a pot and  whisk everything together with electric beaters.

-Share out  between 10 moulds, then bake for 20 minutes.

-To make the icing, put the remaining chocolate bits, and 3 spoonfuls of sugar in a small saucepan.

 -Stir until the chocolate is melted and you have the icing.


-Chill in the fridge until it gets hard.
